Dy3+(4f9
) doped glasses have been considered as promising laser active materials able to emit radiation
associated with the 6H13/2o6
H15/2 transition of Dy3+ ion around 3 Pm [9] .The active Dy3+ ion provides two typical
emission transitions that correspond to 4F9/2o6
H15/2 (magnetic dipole) in blue (a480 nm) and 4
F9/2o6
H13/2 (electric
dipole) in yellow (a570 nm) regions, which are also necessary for full primary color displays [10]–[13]. In this
paper we report on optical, physical and structural properties of Dy3+ ion-doped bismuth borate glass in formula (70-
x)B2O3:30Bi2O3:xDy2O3 (where x = 0.0-2.5 mol%).
