true we are a very small country with tight regulations but i think our crime and corruption levels have proved the efficacy of such regulations. as for the chewing gum law that every non-singaporean seems to site when talking about my country, the sale of non-medical chewing gum is banned but it can be consumed (i.e. if people buy a reasonable amount from other countries, esp from malaysia, it is fine to consumer your typical chewing gum). Drawing examples from New York and London where the streets are covered with chewing gums (it may be getting better) or tables with lumps of chewed out gum stuck underneath, i'm very much appreciative of this law. Call me brainwashed if you may but at least my country's clean :)
