2.1 Unit Division, 4th grade
2.2 Division in each grade level
Third Grade
Students first begin to learn division in third grade. At this level, they learn that there are two types of division; “partitive division” and “measurement division.” They work with numbers within the range of the 9×9 multiplication table, solving a calculation like 12÷3 (that is a calculation where the divisor and quotient are both single digit numbers)
They learn that there are situations in which a number cannot be divided evenly, like in the calculation 13÷3, expanding their understanding of divisions and learn that there are division with remainders.
