Once the injector model was validated, the complete commonrail
system with four injectors was used to reproduce the injection
strategy encountered at engine speeds similar to city and highway
driving. The model simulates the injection sequence of an engine
running at 2000 RPM with a single or triple injection strategy.
The fuel pressure regulator was set at 65 MPa for both strategies.
Table 2 presents the injection strategies employed herein, which
come from Chen [12] using a Ford DIATA engine and were identified
as optimum injection strategies with respect to engine performances
and pollutant emissions. This section presents the
simulation results for each fuel property; the observed behavior
is explained in the discussion.
