In evaluating accounting software, the consensus is that
there is no substitute for working directly with it[6,7].
This “hands on” method will allow the user to determine,
among other things, whether the particular piece of
software is producing what the user expected; is the
package “friendly” to the user, and how cluttered is the
program or the screen? Does the program have controls
over data entry? Of course, these are only a few of the
questions that the perspective user ought to be prepared
to answer in his selection of an accounting package. For
our research purposes, we will rely on various software
reviews to draw common characteristics among accounting
software.
