This kind of maturity that comes from interdependence is contrary to helplessness, lack of control and the need of assistance experienced by us as children. Thus we begin to show more refinement and maturity in becoming an independent adult and learning to depend on ourselves, developing and keeping friendships with peers, understanding the physical, psychological, and social roles according to our gender. When because of adverse conditions we do not move on the index of normal growth process, we tend to regress to the behaviours of childhood which may not be appropriate to our level of maturity as an adult. As we grow from infant to adulthood we have more and more education, more experiences and therefore, are capable of growing and developing an adult level of maturity (Warren, 2010).
