Traveling is important because it helps build tolerance, it helps build language skills, and it helps build communication skills.
Tolerance: learning how customs in other countries are can lead a person to be more tolerant towards other ethnic groups in this country. For example, in Italy they have what they call "siesta". Stores close around 2pm and reopen between 5 to 6 pm. Learning about that custom can prevent that we look at those people just as being "lazy".
Language skills: when going to a foreign country it is often not possible to speak our native language, so a lot of travellers seek to learn some basic phrases so that they can express their needs. Some of these travellers are so interested afterwards that they take courses to learn more of the languages of the countries they want to visit.
Communication skills--it's a direct result of trying to learn the language, therewith enabling those who try to communicate with people in the countries they visit to make friends.
-----try to find at least 2 supporting details for each subject. I know from my own experience that traveling does broaden your mind and I also saw the interest in other languages awakened by my daughter-in-law who frequently travels with me....
