Later, Buddhism came to China. The Mahayana sect of
Buddhism became particularly prevalent there.
Gautama Buddha (c.563/480-
483/400 BCE).
Although the Buddha lived in
India, not China, he was around
in the same period of history as
Confucius and Laozi.
Also, like Confucius and Laozi, he
was essentially a philosopher,
teaching about the fundamental
nature of reality.
And, like Confucius and Laozi, he
was later understood to be a
religious figure.
