4.2. Regression results
Table 3 presents the regression results for the pooled data spanning the years 2002–2003. The explanatory power of the model is relatively good (Adj. R2 = 27%). Further,as expected, student prior knowledge, as measured by the variable PRIOR1B, is a significant factor in determining total examination performance. However, of particular interest
in this study, and also as predicted, LNUSAGE, as a proxy for student interaction and engagement, is a significant and positive determinant of student examination performance.
The results in Table 3 also reveal that ‘‘international students’’ performed, on average,worse in the exam for CM during the period while gender was not a significant factor determining examination performance in CM during this time. The coefficients on the interaction variables reported in Table 3 were not statistically significant at conventional levels.
