Cucumber seeds were sown in nursery using a mixture of Sphagnum fern, perlite
and vermiculite (PROMIX®) as substrate. The transplant was performed 23 days after
sowing. For that, a healthy plant was set into a black polyethylene bag (30×30 cm)
containing tezontle (a Mexican red volcanic rock, particle diameter 3 to 5 mm) as
substrate.
