the correlational study, people who reported suffering from social exclusion recalled novel networks as significantly moredense than they were. However, these misperceptions were limited to reporting the structures of social networks, with no effect for exclusion on geographical network recall. The social experience of exclusion undermines perceptions of social interactions, mak-ing this finding domain specific rather than a general problem of inaccuracy. In a second study, we manipulated the exclusion experience and then had people discern the network structure from theirobservations of social interactions.
