C. japonica is a common species in Japan, but it grouped with C.
hozanensis and C. chekiangoleosa based on the greater amount of
3G-type pigments and a relatively greater amount of non-acylation
(Table 3). These three species clustered with a group of C. semiser-
rata and its related species; our data thus support the notion put
forth by Sakata (1988), Tuyama (1966) and Ming (1998) that C.
japonica and C. chekiangoleosa are differentiated from C.
semiserrata.
