However, only one restriction site exists for MboII in E. japonica
PCR products, yielding two fragments of 736 bp and 288 bp
(Fig. 3). These results were compared with the digestion of the cyt
b partial region. Fig. 3 indicates the respective polymorphic sites
used to differentiate the species, while Fig. 4 shows the band sizes
and patterns produced following digestion. Species-specific RFLP
fragment sizes from the two species obtained by electrophoresis
were in agreement with the expected sizes of the restriction
fragments inferred from sequence analysis (Figs. 3 and 4).
