On the other hand, the level of the student’s readiness for the
AEC is indicated as being at a medium high level (3.86). This result is
consistent with the study of Kanitpong (2010) who found that Thailand
is at a moderate state of readiness for the AEC, while Singapore and
Malaysia are at a higher level of readiness.
To examine the relationships between the variables used in this
study consisting of the five competencies of the accounting students
and their level of readiness for the AEC, a correlation matrix was used.
The results tabulated in Table 3, show that there is a significant positive
correlation between all the competencies and readiness for the AEC at
the 0.01 level.
