oligomeric species, the procyanidin dimers (PC2) B2 [EC-(4b-8)-

the same decreasing order of concentrations). Procyanidin dimers
B3 [C-(4a-8)-C], B6 [C-(4b-6)-C] and B5 [EC-(4b-6)-EC] are found at
lower amounts. Some trimers (PC3), also have been reported, most
often C1 [EC-(4a-8)-EC-(4a-8)-EC] and C2 [C-(4a-8)-C-(4a-8)-C],
and only the sporadic presence of any tetramer (PC4) have been
cited in some cases (Santos-Buelga et al., 1995; Peng et al., 2001).
Polymers with degree of polymerisation of up to 7–8 have been
detected by normal phase (NP) HPLC, coupled to photodiode array
detector (PAD)
