Phytophthora (Phytophthora palmivra) root and
fruit rot, anthracnose (Collectricum gloerosporioides), powdery
mildew (Oidium caricae) and black spot (Asperisporium
caricae) are, however, the more important fungal pathogens
(Zhu et al. 2004).
