A second-year university student was arrested on Wednesday on charges of operating an illegal beauty clinic and using a fake licence in Bangkok’s Bang Khen district.
The arrest was part of an ongoing crackdown by the Public Health Ministry and Department of Special Investigation on illegal cosmetic clinics across Bangkok.
Police executed a search warrant at Pulchala Clinic in the Terrace housing estate in Ram Intra Soi 65 and apprehended a 22-year-old student of a private university, Nattachanon Pitakchaiyakorn, after a tip-off by a licensed physician whose name was misused by the suspect.
DSI chief Tarit Pengdith said an investigation found Nattachanon had posted an advertisement claiming she was a certified beauty expert on the clinic’s Facebook page and other websites. She also used a fake graduation certificate and licence to perform medical services.
Police charged her with fraud, opening a clinic without permission and practising medicine without a licence.
Public Health Minister Pradit Sintawanarong said 30 illegal clinic operators had been arrested since the crackdown was launched in September.
