1. The factory does not have proper Material Safety Data Sheets MSDS for all chemicals in use in workers’ local language.
2. There is not a system in place for selecting proper Personal Protective Equipment PPEs which is suggested on relevant MSDS forms, furthermore there is not a system in place for providing PPEs with international quality standard certification marks. As a result, workers were using carbon-layered face masks in n-hexane using production areas instead of respirators with Volatile Organic Compound (VOC) cartridges. In addition, the factory has not provided any documentation that proves that they have selected all PPEs based on the requirements listed in the MSDS.
3. Two chemicals in use for production activities contain the hazardous chemical n-hexane, which has been banned by Nike.
