In Asia, the spot ethylene market reportedly followed a similar trend as the prior week with prices in the North and the South following different paths. In Northeast Asia, traders reported spot ethylene prices at $1430/ton CFR basis, up $35/ton from a week earlier. In Southeast Asia, ethylene prices were reported steady week over week at $1410/ton CFR basis. Supply is reported to be relatively tighter in the North while there is still buying interest for spot cargoes in China, Japan and South Korea. Maintenance turnarounds planned in Japan for the first quarter of next year are expected to keep supply output limited in the region.
