For determination of the DNA base composition, total DNA was extracted from each strain according to the method of Marmur (1961). By using the thermal denaturation method (Marmur & Doty, 1962) and Escherichia coli K-12 as standard, the DNA G+C content of strain J3-A127T was 59.5 mol% (Tm). This value was within
the range reported for members of the genus Rhizobium.
