In summer, data are insufficient for the area at 1221E, where the front is expected. Fig. 9b, however, shows that unlike in spring when a bulge of the 50:50 mixture of the WPS IntermediateWater and the SCS Intermediate Water (S¼34.3, green in Fig. 8a; Table 2) extends to 1211E, in summer the same area is covered by the dominant, 70%-pure SCS Intermediate Water (S¼34.36, orange in Fig. 9b).
That is, the SCS Intermediate Water also extends slightly farther east in summer.
