Hi Hoan, thank you for the encouraging comment. I was first exposed to music lessons at age 3-4, and formally stopped at age 17. Over the period, there were times when I stopped for a few years (I hated lessons and practising!) and resumed when my interest returned. I wasn't interested in learning/practising back then, and only practised as little as I could to scrape through my lessons. Although I completed the ABRSM syllabus, it was another group music course that developed my skills in variations, improvisations, transposition, composition and so on. Although I didn't complete this special course, I acquired sufficient skills to be able to compose songs or play by ear. In a way, I'm freed from being limited to only music sheets. I feel grateful that I was "forced" to learn, and not everyone may feel the same way (i.e appreciation). Whichever choice you make, I hope it works out well for both you and your daughter. :) Good luck!
