Myanmar Accountancy Council (MAC) was formed by the Myanmar Accountancy Council Law (MACL) 1972 which was enacted by the Union of Myanmar Revolutionary Council on 12 January 1972. In 1994, MACL 1972 was replaced by the MACL 1994 which was enacted by the State Law and Order Restoration Council on 8 March 1994. The objectives of MAC are as follows;
To promote the work force of qualified Accountants
To improve the Accounting Profession
To contribute the development of Accounting principle and practices in Government′s organizations
To ensure that Apprentice Accountants, Certified Public Accountants and Practising Accountants observe their respective code of Ethics.
According to the MACL 1994. Auditor General of the Union is the Chairman of MAC and the Office of the Auditor General of the Union (OAG) acts as the MAC′s Secretariat MAC consists of Chairman, Vice-Chairman, thirteen executive members and secretary. Our current chairman is Mr. Thein Htaik, the Auditor General of the Union.
MAC conducts the Certified Public Accountant and Diploma in Accountancy training courses and allows license of Certified Public Accountant and Practising Accountant.
