Position the leader at the victim's head, facing down the victim's body toward her toes. The leader will then place his hands on each side of the victim's face, being careful not to move her head. He needs to spread his fingers apart so that his thumbs are actually pointing up the victim's temple and close to her forehead. His index and middle fingers will run along her cheeks, and his ring and pinky fingers should curve around the base of her skull and just barely reach her C1 bone at the top of her spine. This position is called "C-spine.
