For the turbulent case the inlet and outlet
acceleration of the fluid is lower than for the laminar
case. However, with the turbulent flow a higher
torque and higher efficiency is observed. This is due
to the fact that turbulent flow creates more drag and
so more energy is transmitted from the flow to the
discs. It is also noticed that the inlet total pressure is
higher than in the laminar case. In addition, Similar
trend is observed for the turbulent case as is found
for the laminar one. Increasing flow rate improves
the efficiency for an instant, after which it falls.
Moreover, increasing the flow rate increases the
loading coefficient.
