Whatever may have led a client to seek help, hypnotherapy assists by strengthening and supporting the natural desire for change and by focussing attention and motivation towards a more positive way of being. By harnessing the client’s personal motivation, hypnotherapy can also encourage personal development and help to reveal inner potential.
During an initial consultation, the hypnotherapist will discuss in depth with the client the reasons for their visit. If appropriate, a full explanation and introduction to hypnosis will then take place.
Once in a comfortable position, either seated or lying down, the client is asked simply to listen to the hypnotherapist’s voice.
Through a process of guided relaxation and using the power of their own imagination, the client is able to reach a pleasantly calm physical and mental state, whilst retaining full control and awareness at all times.
It is during this deeply relaxing state, known as trance, most akin to a naturally occurring and absorbing daydream, that the hypnotherapist can guide and assist the client in finding appropriate solutions and improvements to the relevant issues.
