spectrum of iron oxide [Fig. 1(d)] shows a characteristic absorption
peak at 525 cm1
, which is in accordance with the iron oxide
skeleton [28]. The absence of other peaks in the region 1000–
4000 cm1 confirmed that Fe2O3 nanoparticles are not contaminated
by foreign materials.
Fig. 1(e) and (f) reveal the FESEM images of prepared chromia
and iron oxide nano particles, respectively. FESEM image of
chromia recorded at 1,00,000 magnification appeared like
spherical shaped particles. The average size of the particles was
found to be in the range of 25–50 nm. SEM image of the iron oxide
nano particles has been recorded at 150,000 magnification. It can
be clearly seen that the particles were flaky, spherical and of
dimensions in the range of 75–100 nm.
