The viva, in the main, did not solve any of the questions outstanding from the written work, and the exhibition contained acceptable pieces that were practical and I’m sure found favour with the users although we’re not told this in the writing, but they suffered through the lack of analytical research that goes beyond a philosophical stance and that marries good practice with theory. Much more could be done to push the frontiers of design thinking and aesthetics in these objects and truly break new ground in terms of research and development that could inspire a wider professional audience to engage and perhaps become involved in this worthwhile work.
