In 2010 about 115 million children worldwide were underweight, 55 million had stunted growth.6 In 2010, 43 million preschool children in developing and developed countries were overweight or obese.7 The prevalence of childhood obesity in low-and middle-income countries has been accelerating in the past 10 years; WHO estimates that in 2015 the rate will reach 11%, close to the prevalence in upper-middle-income countries (12%). Obeses children are likely to grow into obese adults; have an increased risk of type 2 diabetes, liver disease and have diminished chances of social and economics performance in adult life
