1 For thousands of years, sailors have told stories about monsters that live deep beneath the sea. One of these monsters is the giant squid. The giant squid can grow to 17 metres of more in length. It has a 2- metre body, eight arms and two tentacles. The tentacles can be 15 metres long! It uses the tentacles to hold onto food. Its mouth is a strong beak, and its eyes are around 25 centimetres wide! Only a few people have seen a giant squid. One person who has seen one is a French sailor called Olivier De Kersauson.
