I really had a strong urge to buy one but I don’t want to get in trouble with building management. Pets in general are not allowed in Thai apartments and condos. Not unless you pay off the guards. I know someone who pays 300THB per day, that’s $10 bucks a day to the security guards in her condo complex just to keep her pet chihuahua and cat! Once I get a proper home with a garden I’ll definitely be getting a couple of those little guys for security and companionship.
As I mentioned before the fair basically has an agricultural theme. So there are also lots of plants for sale. Thais have a green thumb, unlike me. Though after quite sometime I’ve built up a small small garden on my balcony. I mainly have orchids purchased from my wife’s sister’s orchid farm.
And I’ve also been purchasing a lot of other green leafy plants that are easy to grow and take care of. Orchids on the other hand seem a bit hard to care for and requires plant food and pruning. I’ll be putting pictures of my measly garden later on.
There are also quite a lot of other finds in Kaset Fair, stuff that you might see in Chatuchak Weekend Market but the prices are much more reasonable because the fair is mainly visited by the locals. No clothes though, but there are Thai hand made souvenirs, wood crafted furniture and other sorts of knick knacks. Though I am seeing more and more foreigners every sequential year I’ve been visiting.
You can also find many food stalls selling food when you get hungry and thirsty. Loads of stalls selling icy sweet fruit drinks and finger foods. The stalls selling Thai sausages and Chinese styled roast pork were my favorite. And I especially love the fried donuts with pandan custard, yummmm!
