This is is a lovely hardy species that has compact growth that offsets readily, with succulent leaves that developed a very red tinge in strong light.
The first photo is of a mature specimen, the plants for sale are as the second photo, growing nicely in a 6cm pot. The plants measure approx 6cm diameter and 6cm high.
Succulents are half-hardy (usually to - 2-3C) are typically grown under protected conditions over winter to prevent damage from frosts. In late spring to early autumn they can be grown outside and make great patio plants. Some can also grow very happily indoors on a sunny windowsill.
I have found that succulents are not to fussy with their soil requirements but generally thrive with a good gritty mix to ensure good drainage. I use multi-purpose compost, John Innes no.2 and horticultural grit at a 40:40:20 ratio.
Succulents growing seasons are spring and autumn so make sure they benefit from being well watered well at these times of year. In summer the plants can often become stressed with high light levels and dry conditions. This is when their colours are often at their most dramatic. Although very drought resistant they will still benefit from being watered and they may enter dormancy if they become too stressed (the rosettes close up but will open up again with moisture and shade).
Please note that succulents vary in colour during the year and your succulent on receipt may differ from the photo in shades of colour. Our photos are generally taken in summer when their colours are at their most vibrant. From autumn to spring succulents are generally less vibrant and greener in colour. This is quite normal and, once potted on, your plant will take on the colours in the photo once it has rooted and exposed to high light levels and dry conditions.
If you have any queries or problems with your order on receipt, please get in touch as we will resolve any issues amicably and without fuss.
The succulent on offer will be shipped bare root without pot.
