Such initial or crude sisal wax which is extracted by the old method, and which includes said soft and smeary waxes and said color bodies, is of an amorphous structure.
According to my new and improved method, I treat the sisal leaves, prior to separating the pulp from the leaves, and prior to decorticating the leaves. The leaf thus has its fiber and all or substantially all of its original pulp content when it is treated, and it preferably has all or substantially all of its original water content when it is treated. The leaf is thus treated while it has its original structure of pulp, cuticle and fiber.
