Seventy-nine (79) fish were collected from the 2 habitats as the representatives of lentic and lotic environments in Burirum Province, NE of Thailand, i.e. Huay Talad Reservoir (map sheet 5638 IV; co-ordinates 48 PTB 945454) and the lower portion of Lam Plai Mart River (map sheet 5538 I; co-ordinates TB 713441 to map sheet 5539 II; co-ordinates TB 598685), during May to December 2011. The lake is mostly surrounded (65%) by forest and grassland and the remaining are paddy fields. Huay Talad per se is also declared as a RAMSAR site, where the fishing activities are limited to certain area. Lam Plai Mart River is the tributary of the Mun River, the longest river of Thailand. The river is about 200 km long and samplings were conducted in the lower portion from the confluence to the Mun River up to 50 km upstream. There was no record in polluted condition of water quality in both sampling areas and the fisheries are in artisanal level. Abundances in natural food resources between the two sites were not much different (S. Saowakoon, unpublished data) Sampling in Huay Talat was covered the area of 5 km2, meanwhile sampling in Lam Plai Mart was covered the distance 5 km upstream and downstream of sampling point. This is to be confirmed that the samples were from the same fish stock since the maximum migration distance of this fish was less than 5 km (Amilhat and Lorenzen, 2005).
