I still remember the first time I went to a summer camp. The rich smell of burning wood, roasted marshmallows and the laughs of new people getting to know each other. Secrets were shared. Games were played, especially truth or dare. Those two weeks were a time to remember. And I would think of them whenever I sad, lonely or even happy. The triggered flashbacks are still as vivid as ever. Unfortunately,it was so long ago and I was too naive to understand certain things. The most vivid memory of all were times spent in the woods. Those woods spread farther than anyone really knew. And yet I never got lost. The bright white moon always told me where to go. And as cheesy as that may sound, it was true. Anyone out after dark would pay a dire consequence but a certain desire pushed me to disobey. I felt free and for once… with not an once of doubt, I was truly happy. Not only because of the people I was with, but also how I felt being surrounded by the things I love, the trees, the lakes and the clear fresh skies that holstered stars.
I will never forget the experiences I shared with those who are now my best friends. Moments like those are what make me most thankful. As for others, I feel sorry for. So conformed, uniformed. So dry.
