4. Conclusions
(1) The structure and catalytic activity of the simple nanocrystalline
Sr-manganite in the combustion reaction of three
aromatic and aliphatic hydrocarbons diluted in air was
studied.
(2) The studied powder was synthesized by a novel selfcombustion
method using polyvinyl alcohol as colloidal
medium. By heat treatment of 10 h at 1000 C, a good crystalline
quality of the powder without foreign phases was
obtained.
(3) The compound exhibits a hexagonal symmetry and is characterized
by a fine granulation (about 100 nm), a porous
structure and a high specific surface area (2.20 m2/g).
