“I’m not saying someone’s possessing you,” I retorted. “But, Evan, it sounds like our minds linking… Changed you, somehow.”
“No, Will.” Evan’s eyes met mine, his expression earnest and filled with longing. “I look at you now, and it’s as if I’m only really seeing you for the first time.”
I backed away from him on the bed, leaning against the headboard. “No, no, no. This isn’t right. I did this to you.”
“What do you mean this isn’t right?” Evan protested, sounding almost offended.
“Evan, I’ve already thought so much about this. All this time I thought this kind of moment could only be a fantasy. It was just a matter of who you are as a person. Even when I could start possessing people, even when I had Gan to possess anyone I wanted him to, I didn’t want to have you if it wasn’t actually you. It had to be entirely of your own volition, which would never happen because you’re straight. And I came to terms with that.”
“I’m still straight,” Evan said quietly. “But it’s just… You. I love you, specifically.”
“It took me years of being your best friend and roommate to fall in love with you without you returning those feelings. And now you’re telling me that I get inside your head once and all of a sudden you do? That’s not natural.”
“Will, please. This is real. I know it is.”
“I just imposed my own feelings onto you and that’s why you’re acting like this, and I’m sorry,” I stated grimly. “I didn’t mean to mess you up like this.”
I turned away, unable to look at him. Evan scooted towards me and drew his face in close. I turned back towards him and he planted his lips on mine. At this moment I must have whited out, losing all sense of time as we kissed slowly. I thought I could feel my soul leaving my body. Evan wasn’t possessed. This was real.
He pulled away leaving me breathless and with butterflies in my stomach. “I don’t think that was something you gave to me, unless you’re attracted to yourself,” he said sarcastically.
Our knees touched on the bed. I tentatively extended my hand, which he clasped with his. Then we made out, more passionately this time. Ever since Darrig had kissed me in Evan’s body I was never able to forget the taste. It was the same now, but this time it was even better actually coming from Evan.
I’m not sure when I transformed, but before I knew it I realized that I had entered his body. I settled down inside him and found his mind, nuzzling close to it. All at once his thoughts came pouring into me. I felt his love and realized that it was in fact genuine, if a little confused. I was still getting used to being attracted to another man, but maybe deep down this was how I had felt all along, and it was only through connecting with Will that it surfaced.
“Holy shit,” I whispered in awe at the influx of emotions swirling and synthesizing inside me. Our souls joined together in perfect harmony and I went back to that feeling of completeness that I felt back in Gan’s world. I looked down at myself, then excitedly took off my shirt to examine every crevice of my chiseled muscles. To the bathroom mirror I went, and before me was the most beautiful man I had ever seen. It was me, but it was also me in Evan’s body. My eyes gleaming, I flashed a smile that melted my own heart, then chuckled a little as I scratched the stubble growing on my chin.
