5 CONCLUSIONS
This paper describes the novelty in using a converter cum
inverter with less number of controlled switches. The
simulation has been carried out initially to check the operation
with resistive load. The proposed circuit again simulated with
a capacitor charging power supply with series resonant
topology. The results are in comfortable range with
mathematical results to charge a 0.3μF capacitor in 20ms to
500V (Voltage across load capacitor is referred to primary of
high frequency transformer). The proposed novel circuitry has
some limitations like switches should be bi-directional like
GTOs until it turned off. There is a considerable drop in input
current when the rectified voltage drops at 3.33ms regular
interval. All other advantages like ZCS and the voltage profile
across load capacitor (100μF) and peak current through
controlled switches one and same when it operates with a
500V DC supply.
