Researchers have also examined the role of personality
configurations in alcohol-use-related problems. Personality
configurations that lead to characterization of individuals
as impulsives and hedonists (individuals who are low
in conscientiousness and high in extraversion) have been
shown to be more likely to engage in high-risk health behaviors
such as drinking, compared to other personality
configurations sceptics, brooders, and complicateds, all
of whom are high in conscientiousness (Vollrath & Torgersen,
2002)
