These nickel laterite deposits bear nickel and cobalt, but generally, nickel is dominant. Some
examples of nickel laterites have been studied in Africa (e.g.Sipilou in the Ivory Coast, Nahon et al., 1982; Musongali
prospect in Burundi, Gleeson et al., 2003). Generally, the petrographic and geochemical characteristics vary from
one deposit to another; they are a function of many geological and climatic variables.
