Bulgaria's strategic geographic location and well-developed energy sector make it a key European energy centre despite its lack of significant fossil fuel deposits.[249] Nearly 34 percent of its electricity is produced by the nuclear power station at Kozloduy[250] and public opinion strongly supports nuclear energy development.[251] The rapid expansion of alternative energy sources such as wind and solar power stations[252] make Bulgaria one of the fastest-growing wind energy producers in the world.[253] The country aims to produce 16 percent of its electricity from renewable energy sources by 2020.[254]
