Ladies and Gentlemen,
on behalf at the European Parliament and the European Government, I want to wish
you all a Happy New Year and may 2030 be a year of prosperity, development for all
citizens within the Eurozone.
Looking back at the years gone by we have seen major changes in all fields of everyday
life. Finally we can say that we are on a very good way. The people in Europe have
suffered with the measures that we have taken in order to stabilize economy an the
debt of former member states.
Just 15 years ago Europe was in big trouble: An uncertain currency, high
unemployment, a youth with little perspective, a low economy growth. Even democracy
was in many former member states at risk because of racism, populism and nationalism.
Those days are gone. We have taken the right measures and we have seen that we can
do it only together.
