Self leaders focus on what they can do to be the best they can be. They do so, not because they are competing with others or want to overcome everyone around them, but because they want to focus on being the best they can be they will also not shy away from helping others. Self-leadership is not selfish. Self-leaders will not take over responsibility for other people's goals or lives, but they will offer empathy, quality attention, and focused effort to help. Self-leaders know that ultimately it is the individual's responsibility to act in his or her own life. So if the other person is not ready, self-leaders respectfully move on to continue their work in their own lives.
