It
was proposed that diabetes predisposes to
Candida colonization of the vulvo-vestibular area in women by enhancing urinary
fungal growth in the presence of glycosuria, by lowering host resistance to
invasion by Candida spp.as a consequence
of impaired phagocyte activity, and promoting stasis of urine in a neurogenic
bladder with more likelihood to undergo
urinary tract instrumentation and to receive
antibiotics.
