in Thailand hope to profit from a similar wave of popularity when the film makes its local
cinema debut on Nov.30
Fifty million bahts is likely to be spent on promotions linked with harry Potter and the
Philosopher’s Stone, with big spenders including soft drink makers, general retailers, film
producers and cinema chains.
Marketing is due to start this week and intensify as the local launch draws near.
Warner Brothers, which made the film, is set to spend three million bahts.
promotions include a two – month contract to display advertisements on skytrain
carriages.
Industry observers say this indicates the movie will be screened until after the New
Year, normally the peak season for the entertainment business. Ticket sales are projected
to exceed 100 million bahts.
An advertising industry source said that it was the first time that a movie had been
