This behavior intensifies the
devolatilization reaction [38] and, thereby, diminishes the solid
yield. Furthermore, on account of relatively less volatile matter
and more fixed carbon retained in the torrefied biomass, the
enhancement factor of the biomass torrefied in the CO2 atmosphere
is somewhat higher than that in the N2 atmosphere
(Fig. 8b).
