Three types of portfolios [working, showcase, and record- keeping] have been identified. A working portfolios is contains samples of work selected by been the teacher and student, who also cooperate to evaluate the contests of the portfolio. A showcase portfolio is analogous to an artist’s portfolio in that the student selects those items that he or she regards as the best examples of this or her work. Because of the selective nature of the contents the showcase portfolio has less value for the selective nature of the contents the showcase portfolio has less value for assessment purposes. Student may also assemble a record-keeping portfolio to supplement the showcase portfolio. Together the showcase and record-keeping portfolios provide a complete record of all the assessment [Alleman & Broph.1997]
