Bangkok Media and Broadcasting Co, the operator of PPTV channel, will use premium sports content to represent its image as a high-profile sports channel on free TV.
President Kematat Paladesh said the strategy would build the digital TV channel as the home of world-class football coverage.
"I'm sure Thai football fans will enjoy the live broadcasts of world-famous tournaments in high-definition and free of charge," said Mr Kematat.
This year, PPTV has acquired many world-class football tournament licences such as the English Premier League, the Uefa Under-21 Championship, the International Champions Cup and the Bundesliga to air on its digital TV channel.
Earlier, it won the rights to broadcast European football tournaments such as Spain's La Liga (38 matches), Italy's Calcio Serie A (38 matches), the Uefa Champions League (17 matches), the Uefa Europa League (15 matches) and the Uefa Super Cup (one match).
Mr Kematat said PPTV could lure Thai sports fans from the other channels as it will have live broadcasts of many high-profile matches.
Last month, PPTV clinched a deal with German football club Borussia Dortmund to become its official broadcaster in Thailand for a new reality show. The channel also acquired the rights from the club to broadcast official highlights of 42 Borussia Dortmund matches per season.
Mr Kematat said he did not expect massive revenue from these premium football broadcasts. They are meant to pave the way to uplifting PPTV's image in the long term.
"We are now a major sub-licensee of football broadcast rights," he said.
Commenting on PPTV's success in acquiring many football broadcast rights, Thailand's head coach Kiatisuk "Zico" Senamuang said it was great that Thai fans would be able to enjoy live broadcasts of these matches for free.
Mr Kiatisuk said Thailand's national football team would be able to learn from the best international athletes and coaches from watching the pros in action.
"Famous footballers' techniques and strategies could further be employed by our national team," he said.
