Socio-demographic characteristics
Sample size was 2210 (response rate—88.4 %). Mean age was 30.8 ± 8.1 years (range 18–60 years) and 50.8 % of the sample were males. A majority (48.1 %) of the study population belonged to the age category 20–29 years with 46.5 % males and 49.6 % females being in this age group. Seventy five percent of the study population had worked between 1 and 5 years in their current position. Of the male participants, 45.6 % worked 6–9 h per day with a computer, compared to 42.8 % of the female participants and 44.3 % of the entire study population. Pre-existing eye diseases, which included presence of cataract, glaucoma, presbyopia, myopia and oculomotor abnormalities, were present in 25 % (n = 552). Sample characteristics are summarized
