Site specific art is taking in the location and producing art work that is relevant or has meaning to that specific site . The idea behind site specific art is if you removed that artwork and placed it into a new location or in a studio with white walls this art piece would have no meaning , but to place this artwork into its suited location will be the art itself .Art as site-response sits uneasily within the “art world.” In the work of Hans Haacke for example, site-response can mean uncovering and exposing dubious relations involved in the dealings of the site’s managers. More affirmingly, his “Bevolkerung” installation for the new Reichstag sought to reaffirm the role of the “People” as opposed to the “Volk” (which has fascist, racist connotations) in post-1989 Germany.is artwork created to exist in a certain place. Typically, the artist takes the location into account while planning and creating the artwork. Outdoor site-specific artworks often include landscaping combined with permanently sited sculptural elements (the movement is linked with Environmental art). Outdoor site-specific artworks also include dance performances created especially for the site; the choreographer uses the site as inspiration for costumes and movement repertoire. Some artists make a point of commissioning music created by a local composer especially for the dance site. Indoor site-specific artworks may be created in conjunction with (or indeed by) the architects of the building. More broadly, the term is sometimes used for any work that is (more or less) permanently attached to a particular location. In this sense, a building with interesting architecture could be considered a piece of site-specific art , artists include Andy Goldsworthy ,Robert Smithson ,Betty Beaumont etc…. . If the artist took the artwork away from the site the artwork itself wouldn’t have meaning , it would be out of placed . political and environmental statements become communicated in site specific art .
